Hair grows from the roots, so when the hair grows...it will be your natural color no matter if you highlight it or not. You will have to do touchups to your highlights as your hair grows to keep the roots dark.

The hair will come in darker. Leave natural blond hair alone, it's rare and should be treasured. My sister had natural blond hair, she highlighted it and it came in dark. Then she ruined it forever and dyed it black. It just looks dumb.

Of course your roots would come in their natural colour! If your are going a lighter shade than your natural, when your roots come in, they may APPEAR darker, when in fact, they are not.
